Job summary

The role supports therapeutic recreation and rehabilitation activities to assist patients during hospitalization and after discharge, with a part-time schedule and day shifts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Associates Degree in Activity, Recreational therapy or other related field.
• Recreational Therapy Assistant (RTA) or Activity Therapy Assistant Certificate preferred.
• Minimum one (1) year experience in Behavioral Healthcare, rehabilitative or SNF setting preferred.
• Behavioral Violence Prevention within 6 months of hire and maintain current annually.

Responsibilities

• Conduct therapeutic recreational activities under the direction of the Activity Therapist/ Director / Manager / Supervisor, within the program to facilitate rehabilitation of the physically and mentally disabled.
• The Activity Therapy Assistant directs patient participation in selected activities such as games, social activities, sports or music to create an atmosphere of sociability, to provide a means of creative expression and to facilitate the learning skills for recreating during hospitalization and after discharge in the community.
