Job summary

Partnership with Children seeks an After-School Program Activity Specialist to facilitate engaging, age-appropriate activities for school-aged children in our NYC sites. You will implement lesson plans across STEM, arts, movement, and more while maintaining a safe, nurturing environment and coordinating showcases.

The role requires an Associates or Bachelor's degree, at least 2 years in a relevant field, and 1+ year of supervising groups of children.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years in specialization.
  • A minimum of one year of experience overseeing and managing groups of children.
  • Must have a strong interest in working with children and be sensitive to social-emotional needs of students.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff, school personnel, parents.
  • Must have excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational.
  • Experience creating lesson plans preferred. Specifically in the field of STEM.
  • Candidates qualified to lead instruction in more than one activity are also preferred.

  • Attend team and group supervision meetings.
  • Attend professional development trainings as required by the agency and program contract.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Partnership with Children provides critical counseling, school-wide services, and family and community outreach in high-poverty, New York City public schools so students can reach their full potential.

This is an after-school program dedicated to ensuring that every child has the cognitive, social, and emotional skills to be their authentic selves, to develop self-sufficiency, and to build the foundation for strong, supportive relationships. With a curriculum focused on academic enrichment, community, cultural enrichment, the arts, recreation, and character education, the After-school Program will reinforce learning in a safe and healthy environment.

Title: After-School Program, Activity Specialist - (YOU MUST HAVE AN ACTIVITY YOU CAN TEACH)

Basic Function: Facilitate implementation of program activities for school-aged after-school program participants while creating a nurturing environment that fosters the creativity and educational advancement of the children.

Qualifications, Skills, and Knowledge Requirements

Associates or Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 2 years in specialization (college students currently pursuing degree-level work are encouraged to apply).

A minimum of one year of experience overseeing and managing groups of children.

Must have a strong interest in working with children and be sensitive to social-emotional needs of students.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program staff, school personnel, parents

Must have excellent communication (written and verbal), interpersonal, and organizational.

Experience creating lesson plans preferred. Specifically in the field of STEM

Candidates qualified to lead instruction in more than one activity are also preferred.

Other Requirements

Must be able to obtain and maintain medical and clearance for SCR, DOH and DOE.

Salary and Working Hours:

$27per hour - based on experience

Part Time Hours - Approximately 15-22.5 hours per week M-Fri 2:30pm-6pm

  • Days/shifts vary depending on site needs
  • Additional/Alternate hours may be available in summer
  • This position is fully in-person and does not offer any remote work.
