St. Charles Community College (SCC) is seeking an Academic & Success Coach for the EXCELERATOR program to provide personalized academic support and promote student success across disciplines.

The coach will do one-on-one sessions, coordinate workshops, tutor with faculty, and help students maximize their potential through study techniques and goal setting on campus and beyond. This role involves collaboration with faculty and campus partners to expand access to tutoring services and retention

Qualifications

• Provide one-on-one coaching to students focusing on study techniques and time management.
• Promote tutoring and coaching services on and off campus.
• Collaborate with faculty, advisors, and other campuses to ensure access to resources.

Responsibilities

• Biology – Assist students with challenging topics such as cell biology, genetics, anatomy, and ecology.
• Chemistry – Assist students with challenging topics in beginning and advanced chemistry (lab). Physics knowledge and experience, preferred.
• Math – Assist students in topics ranging from pre-algebra to advanced mathematics (differential equations). Physics knowledge and experience, preferred.
• Writing – Assist in topics "writing across the curriculum"

POSITION SUMMARY

The Academic & Success Coach for the EXCEL erator at SCCprovides personalized academic support, focusing on student successin a wide range of courses and disciplines. This role involvescoaching students on effective study techniques, time management,and goal setting, while coordinating workshops, tutoring sessions,and collaborating with faculty to enhance the student experience.SCC is particularly interested in team members with a passion forstudent success and the drive to ensure students are maximizingtheir potential at the college.

In this role, the Academic & Success Coach will provideone-on-one coaching to students, focusing on study techniques, timemanagement, and strategies for mastering their respective subjects.The Academic & Success Coach will actively promote tutoring andcoaching services on and off campus for their respectivediscipline, encouraging students to seek assistance and utilize therobust services the EXCEL erator is offering. Support theDirector in developing marketing strategies to increaseparticipation in their respective discipline. The Academic & Success Coach must work closely with faculty, advisors, and othercampuses regarding their respective disciplines, ensuring studentshave access to resources for comprehensive academic support. TheAcademic & Success Coach must participate in campus-wideinitiatives aimed at improving student retention and studentsuccess in their field of discipline.

SCC has numerous discipline-focused tutors at the institution:Biology, Chemistry, Math, and Writing. Although thefoundation of The Academic & Success Coach is the same, eachdiscipline will require different knowledge, experience, andcriteria to be met. The Academic & Success Coach will helpstudents to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills,lead workshops on respective disciplines, including scientific andgeneric study strategies, lab techniques (as necessary), and exampreparation. They must also contribute to the development andassessment of tools that measure the effectiveness of tutoring andcoaching services for their discipline.

These are some of the responsibilities required:

• Biology – Assist students with challenging topics such as cellbiology, genetics, anatomy, and ecology.
