Our fundamental belief at Freudigman & Billings is that children learn best in the context of supportive relationships. We are committed to helping our students better understand how they learn and how they can take ownership of that learning. Our team provides educational solutions for middle and high school students through individual assessment, personally tailored learning programs, and one-on-one instruction.
Instructors at Freudigman & Billings provide individualized academic support and coaching for high school students. This is a part-time, hourly position for an educator or experienced mentor who enjoys working one-on-one with adolescents and is excited by the opportunity to help students become more confident, capable, and independent learners.
Instructors work closely with students to build academic skills, strengthen executive functioning, develop productive habits, and follow through on individualized educational plans. The work goes beyond teaching content. We help students understand how they learn, identify what is getting in their way, and develop the skills and confidence they need to take greater ownership of their education.
The ideal candidate is organized, intellectually curious, empathetic, and charismatic, with the ability to build genuine relationships with teenagers while maintaining appropriate structure and professional boundaries. You should be comfortable working flexibly with students who have different learning styles, needs, and personalities, and be willing to learn and grow as an educator.
Predictable hours at a single office location: Almost all work with students takes place at our 11,000-square-foot headquarters in Westport, CT. There is no driving from house to house or unpaid travel time. Instructors and ASBs work in a professional, collaborative environment designed specifically for learning.
Teamwork: We work closely together to create and execute individualized learning plans. Our work is far more comprehensive than a transactional hour of tutoring, and our staff benefit from the collaboration and expertise of a multidisciplinary instructional team.
Professional development: Our team includes educators with PhDs, Master's degrees, and other professional certifications. We provide training in our instructional approach and support staff in developing their own teaching and coaching techniques.
Administrative support: Our full-time administrative team handles scheduling, billing, inventory, printing of materials, and the administration and scoring of practice exams, allowing instructional staff to focus on students.
