Job summary

West Suburban YMCA in Newton, MA seeks a reliable van driver for after-school transportation. Expect approximately 5–6 hours per week, with scheduled slots Mon, Tue, Thu, Fri 2:30–3:30 pm and Wed 12:00–1:00 pm. The role involves safe driving, trip checks, and maintaining logs while fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere.

CPR and First Aid certifications must be obtained within 30 days of hire. A 7D license and desire to work with children are required.

Responsibilities

• Drive van safely according to YMCA policies and state laws.
• Complete thorough before-and-after trip checks and record mileage, gas, and maintenance.
• Keep first aid supplies stocked and accessible for safety.
• Support DEIB initiatives and advocate for equity and inclusion.
• Ensure van rules are announced and followed.
• Develop friendly relationships among staff, volunteers, parents, teachers and children.
• Communicate regularly with supervisor and staff.
