Job Summary:
Plans and teaches his/her subject area, following scope and sequence of all courses. Provides instruction to students in a variety of planned topics. Implements the school's mission to empower students as learners and maintains a well-managed, orderly, positive classroom environment conducive to learning.
Essential Functions:
- Develops daily and unit lesson plans that are thoughtful, goal-oriented and aligned with curriculum; maintains pace of learning and checks for student understanding.
- Carefully plans for substitute teachers and relates lessons to state content standards.
- Creates and maintains a classroom environment to encourage student engagement; maintains accurate records of student achievement and behavioral performance.
- Promotes a high rate of student interest and provides prompt and specific feedback.
- Complies with policies, regulations, and procedures of CCCS; communicates effectively with parents and collaborates with staff.
- Displays high-level professional conduct and participates in extra-curricular activities.
- Continues to grow as a professional educator through classes/workshops for professional development.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education from an accredited college or university.
- Pennsylvania Criminal Record Check Clearance.
- Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance.
- FBI Criminal Background Clearance.
Certificates/Licenses:
- Valid Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate I (preferred).
Demonstrated Knowledge of:
- Mastery of necessary content knowledge and skills to teach assigned content area(s) and grade level(s).
- Proficiency in automated student information systems and ability to integrate technology into instructional delivery.
- Exceptional classroom management, organization, planning, and instructional delivery skills.
- Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) and Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTII).
Demonstrated Ability to:
- Motivate and build relationships with students and parents to promote student achievement.
- Assess students’ needs and learning styles to design appropriate differentiated instruction.
- Facilitate inquiry-based learning and communicate effectively.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, administrators, staff, parents, and students.
