Job summary

Tribe513 is seeking a Medical Assistant or Certified Medical Assistant to join our Boiling Springs area practice. The role requires direct patient care, coordination of services and accurate medical record keeping in a busy clinic setting.

The candidate will assist providers and staff, maintain exam rooms, manage supplies, and document treatments while upholding confidentiality and HIPAA guidelines. This is a full-time position with standard business hours.

Qualifications

• Office experience preferred.
• Knowledge of approved medical abbreviations and correct spelling of English.
• Ability to work with non-cooperative patients or those with psychosocial/health needs.
• Ability to adapt to various work assignments.
• Good customer service skills and telephone etiquette; computer experience helpful.

Responsibilities

• Communicates with clinical, clerical, billing staff, providers, patients and families to ensure continuity of care.
• Expresses patient status clearly in written and verbal form.
• Accurately completes and maintains medical records and documents.
• Provides general nursing care to patients and manages time effectively.
• Maintains exam rooms and lab areas; stocks and cleans; keeps equipment ready for treatment.
• Administers and documents medications, vaccines and treatments.
• Maintains ongoing skills through training and in-services.
• Attends scheduled clinical meetings.
• Adheres to Tribe513 employee manual and policies.
• Maintains strict confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
• Coordinates scheduling of preventive visits and performs patient rooming duties (Parkside Pediatrics).
• Performs other duties as assigned or required.

Education

Job Title: Medical Assistant OR Certified Medical Assistant

Supervised by: Clinical Coordinator

Location: Boiling Springs office

Hours: Full-time, Monday - Friday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM

Summary of Duties: Provides patient care in the office setting. Assists providers and staff in coordinating patient care. Functions as a primary liaison between patients, families, staff and providers.

Essential Functions: Works both autonomously and collaboratively:

1. Communicates with clinical, clerical and billing departments, providers, patients and families to ensure continuity of care.

2. Communication skills (both written and verbal) suitable to express the physical, mental and emotional status of patients and families.

3. Accurately completes and maintains medical records and documents.

5. Provides general nursing care to patients. Demonstrates acceptable time management techniques.

6. Maintains exam rooms and lab area. Prepares, stocks and cleans rooms as well as maintains supplies and equipment for treatment.

7. Administers/documents medication, vaccines, and treatments.

8. Maintains skills and knowledge base through reading, training and other structured in-services.

9. Attends clinical meetings as scheduled.

10. Conducts self in accordance with Tribe 513 employee manual.

11. Maintains strictest confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.

12. (For Parkside Pediatrics) Coordinates scheduling of preventative well visits while performing patient rooming duties.

Education:

• High School Diploma or GED,
• Certified Medical Assistant preferred

Skills/Experience:

1. Office experience preferred.

4. Ability to adapt to various work assignments.

5. Possess good customer service skills and exceptional telephone etiquette. Previous computer experience helpful.

Environmental/Working Conditions: Ability to work in an environment with exposure to potentially dangerous/infectious materials and situations that require following extensive safety may be required and/or hours may be shortened as business needs dictate.

Physical Demands: Ability to perform moderate physical activity. May require handling/lifting of children/objects (up to 50 pounds) or standing/sitting/walking for more than four (4) hours per day. Prolonged use of telephone may be required.
