Salary Ranges:

  • Parks Technician I: $18.86 - $23.80 per hour
  • Parks Technician II: $22.85 - $30.05 per hour
  • Parks Technician III: $25.55 - $33.60 per hour

This is a full time, non-exempt/hourly position.

Schedule: This position may involve working a variety of schedules, including evenings and weekends, and may be subject to work beyond normal scheduled hours including emergency call-ins. A typical schedule is Monday-Friday, 6:30am – 2:30 pm. Remote and/or hybrid schedules are not available.

Requirements: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade. Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license and driving record satisfactory to obtain coverage by the Village’s insurance carrier.

The purpose of this position is to perform semi-skilled, skilled, and highly skilled labor involved in the maintenance and repair of parks, landscape areas, open spaces, rights-of-way, and trails to assure these areas are safe, available, clean, functional, and aesthetically pleasing while following best management practices.

Essential Functions:
A. Turf, Landscaping and Equestrian Trail Crew
  • Mows, aerates, power rakes, overseeds, top-dresses, fertilizes, line trims, and edges turf areas in Village parks.
  • Performs technical skills related to chemical application in turf areas and shrub beds.
  • Utilizes a sidewalk sweeper to remove excess materials from trails and sidewalks.
  • Coordinates and performs planting and fertilization of trees and shrubs.
  • Maintains records of all maintenance performed on equipment.
  • Performs trash and recycling removal duties at all parks.
  • Operates light to heavy equipment and various hand and power tools.
B. Snow and Ice Control:
  • Installs and operates snowplows and related equipment.
  • Leads and oversees the work of seasonal staff.
  • Maintains records on equipment and material used.
  • Ensures adherence to standard safety precautions and practices.
Position Requirements:
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
  • Knowledge of equipment and tools used in the maintenance and repair of parks.
  • Ability to learn operations and activities of a park maintenance program.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work in adverse weather conditions.
Experience and Training Guidelines:
  • Experience: One year of experience in the maintenance and restoration of parks preferred.
  • Training: Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
Certificates and Licenses:
  • Possession of an appropriate, valid driver’s license.
