Job Description

The Parks Streetscape Worker serves under the direction of the Parks Superintendent. This position is responsible for performing skilled work related to park maintenance, design, construction, and risk management for city streetscapes, boulevards, I-15, and other city-owned properties. The position involves working 36-hour weeks during the summer months, typically four 9-hour shifts per week.

Functions & Duties
  • Assist in maintaining city streetscapes, boulevards, I-15, and other city properties.
  • Perform landscaping and irrigation system installation and maintenance.
  • Conduct safety inspections of assigned areas and equipment.
  • Manage budget within assigned areas, including cost control activities, and ensure efficient use of funds, personnel, materials, and facilities.
  • Control and oversee materials and supplies used in maintenance, construction, and repair of City Parks and properties.
Qualifications & Competencies
Education / Certification

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Some related experience in grounds maintenance preferred.

Required Knowledge
  • Knowledge of city parks and property operations.
Experience Required

Combination of education and experience that provides the necessary skills and knowledge may be considered.

Skills & Abilities
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment such as trucks, mowers, tractors, etc.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and the public.
  • Physical ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, talk, hear, walk, operate objects, and lift up to 40 pounds.
Working Conditions
  • Work conditions may vary; outdoor work in sun and elements is common.
  • No significantly hazardous conditions are anticipated.
