Job summary

The City of Peoria, AZ is seeking a maintenance worker to provide general maintenance and repair services for parks and sports facilities. You will perform skilled landscape and turf work, maintain irrigation, and assist with ball field upkeep, with potential after-hours rotation.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of experience, a high school diploma, and a valid Arizona driver’s license; pesticide/herbicide applicator license may be required within 6 months.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• One to two years of experience.
• Valid AZ Driver’s License upon hire.
• Pesticide/herbicide applicator's license within 6 months

Responsibilities

• Perform skilled maintenance and repair for landscape and turf areas.
• Maintain irrigation systems by setting and adjusting irrigation clocks and controls.
• Perform turf maintenance functions: fertilizing, aerating, top dressing, mowing, dethatching, overseeding.
• May perform ball field maintenance to major league specifications.
• Mix and apply herbicides to athletic fields and maintenance areas.
• Perform routine safety inspections and repair of facility equipment.
• Work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, rain).
