Job summary

The Gaston County Parks & Recreation Department seeks an enthusiastic candidate to join our team in Gastonia, NC. This role supports event planning, content creation for promotions, and daily facility operations at the Senior Center and parks.

You will assist with reservations, inventories and signage, while helping deliver programs and events year-round. A High School Diploma and 1 year of related experience are required; proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, and social media is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• One year related work experience preferred.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Canva; familiarity with graphic design, photography and social media; ability to lift 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, logistics and day-of-event execution for Senior Games, Recreation Programs and Special Events.
• Create engaging content for promotional materials including brochures, flyers, digital assets and social media posts; order branded merchandise.
• Assist with facility reservations, distribute weekly reservation schedules, process access requests, monitor inventory and update digital listings.
• Support seamless operations at Gaston County Senior Center to ensure quality service and guest satisfaction.
• Participate in community, departmental and inter-departmental events as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

The Gaston County Parks & Recreation Department enriches the quality of life for residents by providing parks, facilities, and activities that promote health, wellness, learning, and fun.

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $20.43 - $24.26.

The duties listed below are not all of the duties that may be assigned but are those that are considered as essential for an employee to perform.

• Along with the Recreation Coordinator and Marketing & Special Events Coordinator, contribute to the successful planning, coordination, logistics and day of event execution of Senior Games, Recreation Programs and Special Events taking place seasonally and throughout the year at our County Parks and Senior Center.
• Along with the Marketing & Special Events Coordinator, create engaging content for Parks & Recreation and Senior Center promotional material including brochures, flyers, digital assets and social media posts, as well as ordering branded merchandise.
• Provide reliable back up for the Administrative Coordinator on processing facility reservations, distributing weekly reservation schedules, taking access requests for Lewis Brooks Airfield, monitoring department supply inventory and updating Dallas Park digital sign listings.
• Contribute to the execution of seamless operations, events and programs at Gaston County Senior Center to ensure continuity of service and guest satisfaction.
• Participate in community, departmental and inter-departmental events and meetings as needed to advance Parks & Recreation goals and objectives.
• Other duties as assigned.
