Description
Responsible for contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of our community's recreational spaces.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience in manual labor or related field is preferred.
- Valid Texas Driver license at time of placement.
- Flexibility to work weekends or evenings for special events or projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of landscaping and maintenance practices.
- Knowledge of using hand and power tools, lawn equipment, welders, cutting torches, and various carpentry tools.
- Knowledge of electrical, carpentry, welding, and plumbing procedures.
- Skills in strong verbal and written communication.
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
Major Duties
- Perform manual labor tasks, including but not limited to landscaping, grounds maintenance, and facility upkeep.
- Assist in the installation and repair of park amenities, equipment, and infrastructure.
- Operate and maintain various hand tools and power equipment as required for assigned tasks.
- Participate in the preparation and cleanup of special events and programs hosted within parks.
- Perform routine inspections of park areas to identify and report maintenance needs.
- Support a safe and clean work environment by adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.
- Collaborate with team members and follow instructions from supervisory staff.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste and debris in compliance with departmental policies.
- Respond to emergency situations, such as storm damage or hazardous conditions, as directed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Parks and Recreation Department.
This position is an essential service position and will require providing services during emergency situations.
