Job summary

PARKS & RECREATION DEPARTMENT SUMMER CAMP TEACHERS ASSISTANT (8) POSITIONS AVAILABLE
Job Duties:

The Summer Camp Teacher Assistant works along with the Summer Camp Teacher with ages 7-12 in the Summer Camp. A strong relationship between the Director, Teacher, and Camp Supervisor is vital. Each Teacher Assistant is expected to contribute to a working environment that is friendly, respectful, open, and honest. Teacher Assistants are responsible for helping to create age-appropriate lessons weekly within a defined curriculum area of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) for each day of camp. Summer Camp staff works together to share ideas and to develop joint projects and activities.
Hours: 8 am- 5 pm; Timeframe: June 23, 2024- July 25, 2025, M- F

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

General knowledge of modern principles and practices of education. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with county and community officials, volunteers, and the public. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; the ability to develop and maintain strong, effective working relationships with the community through extensive contact with parents, instructors, and participants; and skilled management of multiple programs and a desire to build upon the existing program base. Knowledge of first aid practices and techniques.

Desirable Experience and Training:

Must be 16 or older. Must possess a valid NC driver’s license and must pass criminal history and driver's license background checks.
