Job description

Are you ready to work at the Coolest Place in Town?

The IBP Ice Center is looking for a hard-working, flexible, good communicator to help maintain the facility and keep it cool, fun, and safe. Some knowledge of first aid methods and safety precautions used in public work is preferred.

Flexible Scheduling: Days, Evenings, and Weekends.

Minimum Age: Must be at least 15 years of age by employment start date.

Responsibilities:
  1. Provide primary customer service and act as a resource person in the facility.
  2. Promote understanding of the facility and goodwill within the community.
  3. Coordinate with the public and manage public and private-party participants.
  4. Manage general traffic flow in the facility and erect traffic barricades as needed.
  5. Set up and tear down chairs, tables, and recreational equipment.
  6. Perform basic cleaning and maintenance of the facility, including restrooms, trash removal, mopping, snow removal/salting, and litter patrol.
  7. Clean, restock, and maintain floors and rugs using appropriate machinery.
  8. Make light repairs to equipment, maintain glass, and perform painting as required. Serve as a resource person in the facility.
  9. Become belay-qualified within 30 days of appointment to manage climbing wall participants, if applicable.
  10. Store, prepare, and serve food and refreshments in compliance with local and state health codes and facility rules.
  11. Perform other manual tasks related to the operation and maintenance of Parks and Recreation properties.
  12. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, other agencies, employees, and the public.
  13. Maintain good public relations through courteous and prompt service.
  14. Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
  15. Lift up to 10 pounds regularly and up to 30 pounds occasionally.
  16. Be prepared to perform duties outside of normal classification during declared emergencies; employees may be required to report to work during such times, even if excused otherwise.
Qualifications:
  • Must obtain First Aid & CPR certification within 30 days of appointment, if applicable.
  • Must be 15 years of age by employment start date.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older to serve alcohol, if applicable.
