JOB OBJECTIVE:
To perform ground and plant maintenance activities at various City parks and other facilities as assigned.
- Performs ground and plant maintenance activities at various City parks and other facilities as assigned.
- Maintains flower beds and planters by weeding, planting seasonal flowers, and watering plants at various areas of the City of Little Rock, including Riverfront Park and City Hall.
- Operates tractor-mounted mowing equipment to cut grass and uses hand and power tools such as push mowers, edgers, line trimmers, blowers, etc., to perform lawn and grounds maintenance duties.
- Operates trucks and trailers to move equipment or materials.
- Checks fuel, oil, and other fluids before operating equipment.
- Performs greenhouse and plant maintenance activities, including planting seeds, mixing soil, cleaning and sterilizing flower pots and containers, watering plants, and other related activities.
- Mixes and applies non-restricted use chemical agents, including fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, insecticides, and pesticides, utilizing a hand sprayer.
- Performs minor repairs on equipment, such as replacing blades, belts, and filters.
- Operates chainsaws to remove trees from park areas.
- Cleans grounds, buildings, and restrooms in parks.
- Builds and repairs park equipment, such as picnic tables.
- Operates a City pool automobile in the performance of essential job functions.

These knowledge, skills, and abilities are usually, although not always, acquired through the completion of one (1) year of experience in general labor or a related area. Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Must possess a valid Arkansas Class D (Non-Commercial Vehicle) Driver’s License before employment and maintain licensure for the duration of employment in this position.
