Job description

Job Responsibilities
  • Places fences at special events; sets up stages, podiums, flags, and stairs.
  • Mows grass, operates weed eaters, edges grass, and blows leaves.
  • Assembles bleachers, benches, and trash cans.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs barbecue grills.
  • Prepares sports fields for games and tournaments; marks fields; adjusts goal posts for college or high school games.
  • Applies fertilizer to sod grass.
  • Plants trees and shrubs.
  • Inspects, installs, maintains, and repairs playground equipment.
  • Orders parts and supplies; transports parts and equipment; maintains tools and equipment.
  • Installs, maintains, and repairs basketball goals, nets, and poles.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of park maintenance methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance techniques.
  • Skill in installing, repairing, and maintaining playground equipment.
  • Problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Skill in operating hand and power tools.

  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
Qualifications

Completion of specialized training in the occupational field, along with basic skills typically acquired through a high school education. Sufficient experience, usually one to two years, such as an apprenticeship or similar position. Possession or ability to obtain a valid Georgia driver's license for the vehicle or equipment operated.

Physical Requirements

Work involves sitting, standing, bending, crouching, walking, and stooping. Occasionally lifting objects, climbing ladders, using tools requiring dexterity, and distinguishing shades of color. Physical activities include balancing, crouching, feeling, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, manual dexterity, reaching, repetitive motion, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.

Work environment includes exposure to noise, dust, dirt, grease, machinery, and chemicals, both indoors and outdoors, with potential exposure to cold or inclement weather.
