This position is responsible for various maintenance tasks at the Fair Oaks Recreation Center (1465 W Booth Rd Ext SW, Marietta, GA 30008).
The starting hourly rate will not exceed $17.00.
Responsibilities include:
- Landscaping duties: mowing grass, planting flowers and shrubs, weed eating, edging curb lines, clearing debris, spreading ground cover, applying herbicides and pesticides, pruning, weeding flower beds, aerating, spreading grass seed, servicing irrigation systems, grooming ball fields, and snow/ice removal.
- Maintenance and construction: resurfacing and renovating playgrounds, fields, and courts; painting buildings and equipment; repairing fences and playground equipment; building sets, shelves, and other items; performing light plumbing, electrical, masonry, and carpentry repairs.
- Custodial duties: cleaning parks, restrooms, kitchens, locker rooms, meeting rooms; vacuuming carpets; hosing decks; floor scrubbing and waxing; dusting; window washing; trash removal; staging setup and teardown for events.
- Inventory management: gathering supplies, transporting, initiating orders, and maintaining documentation.
- Equipment operation: operating county vehicles and tools such as mowers, trimmers, blowers, tillers, bobcats, tractors, dump trucks, among others.
- General maintenance: inspecting, checking, and maintaining machinery and tools; ensuring safety and efficiency; reporting faults.
- Other duties: performing related tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED plus one year of parks maintenance, landscaping, or related experience.
- Valid Driver's License with appropriate endorsements.
- Ability to perform heavy physical work, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and lifting objects up to 50 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 100 pounds.
Sensory and Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to communicate orally.
- Exposure to environmental conditions such as dirt, dust, pollen, odors, wetness, humidity, rain, heights, confined spaces, electric currents, traffic hazards, bright/dim lights, wildlife, and unruly customers.
