Harnett County Schools in Lillington, NC is seeking a grounds maintenance and custodial worker to perform mowing, edging, pruning, planting, and general cleaning across facilities and parks. The role includes operating lawn mowers, tractors, and hand tools, plus basic repairs and ensuring safe, well-kept grounds.
The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a valid NC driver's license, and the ability to obtain an NC Pesticide License within 2 years.
An employee in this position performs unskilled grounds maintenance and custodial work involving a variety of building and parks maintenance tasks assuring facilities are landscaped and maintained. This includes general landscape maintenance such as mowing grass, weed eating, edging, pruning, planting trees and shrubs, fertilizing and general clean-up activities and custodial tasks.
Hiring Range: $38,532.00
Must be able to perform heavy work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently; and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The work also involves the physical abilities of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, and hearing. An incumbent must also possess the visual acuity to operate machines such as drills, power saws, to perform skilled trade tasks on non-repetitive nature, and to keep and maintain various records.
The employee is subjected to inside and outside environmental hazards including exposures to noise, vibrations, proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, working in high places, exposure to chemicals, fumes, odors, dusts, mists, gases, and oils. Duties may result in exposure to human body fluids and thus the work is subject to OSHA standards on blood borne pathogens.
