Job summary

The Downers Grove Park District is seeking a Maintenance team member to provide a full range of general maintenance, construction, and development of parks, playgrounds, athletic fields, structures, roads, paths, parking lots, utilities, drainage, restroom and concession buildings, fleet vehicles, and other property owned and managed by the District.

Pay range is $25.43 to $26.00 per hour with robust PTO and benefits including health, dental, vision, life & AD&D, IMRF pension, 401A, and fitness

Qualifications

• Must have good communication and ability to work with the public.
• Ability to follow instructions and perform work effectively.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Trade school or continuing training preferred.
• Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, painting and carpentry installations preferred.
• Ability to safely perform maintenance duties of moderate complexity.
• Illinois pesticide operator’s license or willingness to obtain within six months.

Responsibilities

• Repair, maintenance, construction and development of parks, fields, and related facilities.
• Operate district equipment for turf cutting, maintenance and snow removal.
• Maintain restrooms, pavilions, and other park structures; handle trash and ice rink upkeep.
• Care for turf, trees, shrubs, flowers, and natural areas.
• Respond to on-call shifts including weekends and events.
• Update maintenance software during the day.
• Provide leadership and guidance to assigned staff.
