Positions assigned to this class perform preventative, maintenance and repairs on park related maintenance tools, and equipment. Assists in the organization and maintenance of the shop and equipment yard. Inventory control and supplies delivery and pick up. May assist with major park events and landscape maintenance as needed. Must possess a high school diploma or GED and one (1) year paid experience in the diagnosis, maintenance and repair of minor mechanical issues on vehicles, machinery, small tools and equipment.
Candidates who are selected for appointment may be required to be fingerprinted, if 18 or older; successfully complete a background investigation, employment verification and may be subject to a drug/alcohol test, medical, polygraph and/or psychological evaluation. Candidates who are appointed will be required to possess a valid driver’s license to operate a vehicle in Arizona, or meet the transportation needs of the position.
Work is performed in a shop or out of doors and may involve climbing ladders. Requires moderate exertion and lifting carrying objects up to 100 pounds, repeated bending, stooping. Requires visual and manual dexterity and precision measurements and continuous repetitive arm, hand and eye movement. May be exposed to high voltage and hazardous chemicals. Work schedule which may include nights, weekends, holidays and extended hours during emergencies.
