Job summary

The Fresno County Department of Public Works and Planning invites applications for the position of Parks Groundskeeper. Incumbents are primarily responsible for maintaining County parks, grounds surrounding County Library facilities, disposal sites, recreational facilities, scenic drives, and other grounds surrounding County buildings.

Some positions may be assigned to the American Avenue Disposal Site located in Kerman, approximately 23 miles west of Fresno. These individuals will be required to provide their own transportation to and from work (auto expenses and travel time are not covered). In addition to assignments at the American Avenue Disposal Site, these positions will also assist in seasonal landscape maintenance at closed County disposal sites.

Positions may require the ability to work overtime, weekends (including Sundays) and holidays.

Experience

• One (1) year of full-time, paid work experience maintaining parks, grounds, or lawns; landscaping; or farming that included planting, irrigating, and fertilizing.

License

• Possession of a valid Class "C" driver's license, or equivalent.

Other

• Candidates may be required to participate in the County's Drug and Alcohol Testing Program, which includes an initial and subsequent random testing, as required by Title 49 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

SELECTION PROCESS

Pursuant to Fresno County Personnel Rule 4 - Selection Process, applicants may be required to complete an examination process and successful candidates will be placed on an employment list effective for a minimum of 3 months and certified in final rank order as vacancies occur.
