Job summary

City of Garland Parks Department is seeking a Parks Maintenance Worker to perform routine labor for upkeep of parks, grounds, and facilities. Duties include mowing, trimming, weed control, and litter removal, with supervision and adherence to safety guidelines.

You will operate tractors, mowers, and related equipment, assist with irrigation and repairs, and help with events and tournaments as needed. Outdoor work in varying weather is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Valid Class C Texas driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Mow, edge, trim, rake, weed, and remove litter from parks, medians, rights-of-way, athletic fields, and landscaped areas.
• Perform tree maintenance and removal at city parks and facilities.
• Clean and maintain park restrooms, pavilions, playgrounds, and other facilities.
• Assist irrigation, pool operations, playground repairs, construction, and chemical applications as needed.
• Operate tractors and trucks with mower attachments, edger, line trimmer, backpack blower, and other small tools.
• Support setup and breakdown for athletic tournaments, special events, and seasonal programs.
• Operate city vehicle to assist in routine maintenance.
• Follow safe work methods and report hazards promptly.
