Job summary

The City of Brainerd is seeking a Parks Maintenance worker to perform groundskeeping, field prep, and facility upkeep in city parks and recreation areas. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, a MN driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a Class B CDL within six months.

OSHA training and horticulture knowledge are preferred. The role involves operating a range of maintenance equipment, supervising seasonal staff, and contributing to safe, well-maintained parks for community

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid MN driver’s license required.
• MN Class B CDL or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• Complete and maintain OSHA-required training.
• Experience operating equipment in a park maintenance operation.
• Training and/or experience in horticulture.

Responsibilities

• Perform groundskeeping and maintenance in park areas.
• Prepare and maintain athletic fields, playgrounds, and outdoor ice rinks.
• Plant, trim and remove shade trees in parks and city property.
• Clean park facilities and perform minor plumbing maintenance.
• Maintain playground equipment, courts, pavilions and facilities.
• Operate division equipment and perform preventive maintenance.
• Inspect parks and report hazards per OSHA standards.
• Direct and oversee seasonal workers as assigned.
