Job summary

The Town of Berlin (Connecticut) seeks a Groundskeeper – Maintainer III/IV to maintain parks and school properties using a range of grounds equipment. This full-time, non-exempt role reports to the Parks and Grounds department and requires physical stamina.

The position requires a high school diploma, at least three years of grounds experience, and the ability to obtain CT Applicators License and CDL. Hourly salaries: Maintainer III $27.97, Maintainer IV $29.94.

Qualifications

• High School diploma required with grounds maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of turf care, irrigation, and facility upkeep.
• Ability to obtain CT Applicators License and CDL.

Responsibilities

• Maintain town parks, grounds and facilities with skilled equipment operation.
• Plant, prune, mow, water, fertilize and care for turf, shrubs and trees.
• Operate mowers, tractors, loaders and other power tools safely.
• Perform basic repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Maintain athletic fields and public spaces; ensure proper marking.
• Assist with snow removal and seasonal duties as needed.
• Report hazards and coordinate with supervisor for safety.
