Job summary

The Maryland National Capital Park & Planning Commission is seeking a Parks Facilities/Maintenance Leader (CDL required for some roles) to oversee crew performance, safety, and day-to-day maintenance across Prince George’s County facilities. The role requires leadership, a valid driver's license, and the ability to manage resources for park operations and events.

Applicants may need CDL endorsements and certifications such as pesticide applicator, fertilizer applicator, and playground safety

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Five years of progressive experience in ground, park, or building maintenance.
• An equivalent education/experience combination may satisfy five years total.
• Valid driver’s license under state/commission rules; no restrictions that impede driving.
• Pass a Commission medical examination; CDL endorsements may be required for some assignments.
• Within 12 months, may require CDL with endorsements and industry certifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior manager, train coworkers, and maintain records and reports.
• Plan work estimates, resources, and materials; prioritize daily assignments.
• Inspect sites, manage waste removal, and operate equipment like packer trucks.
• Lead crews for events, daily work orders, and special maintenance tasks.
• Ensure safety, inspect facilities, and monitor weather-related emergencies.
