City of Deer Park seeks a Parks Maintenance Worker to perform varied maintenance tasks in parks and open spaces, including mowing, lawn care, cleaning restrooms, and repairing facilities.
The role requires operating tractors, mowers, pumps, sprinklers, and related equipment, with a need for physical stamina and safe work practices. CDL endorsement may be required for some duties, and you will join a team under supervision.
Performs a variety of unskilled and semi-skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of parks, open spaces, grounds, turf and related facilities.
Works under the immediate supervision of the Parks Operations Supervisor.

Performs custodial work such as required and assigned, including change light bulbs and fluorescent tubes; sweep floors; dump garbage and reline cans with liners; clean and sanitize restrooms and replenish supplies; sweep; empty ash cans; clean spills; clean drinking fountains, mirrors, tables, walls, fixtures, blinds, light fixtures etc.; wash windows, walls, metal and woodwork; clean rain gutters; sweep roofs.
Drags ball fields; lies fields for games.
Performs backup duties for related positions, as assigned.
Assists in the maintenance of swimming pools.
Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.

Pickup truck; lawn and landscaping equipment, including tractors, mowers, aerifier, chainsaw, edgers, weed trimmers, electric motors, pumps, sprinklers, irrigation systems; miscellaneous hand and power tools for turf maintenance, carpentry, painting, plumbing, electrical, and cement finishing work; swimming pool equipment including chlorination system, pumps, boiler, valves, filtration devices, gauges ,etc.; janitorial equipment including floor buffers, steam cleaner, carpet cleaners, washers, vacuums, mops, brooms, and dusting equipment.
