Job summary

City of University City seeks a Parks Equipment Operator to operate a range of park maintenance equipment and perform routine upkeep. This is semi-skilled, manual labor under the supervision of the Parks Supervisor, with potential lead responsibilities for some tasks.

The role requires independent completion of routine duties with occasional guidance. Required qualifications include a High School diploma or equivalent, 1–3 years of park/grounds maintenance experience, knowledge of automotive

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent required.
1–3 years of park/grounds maintenance experience preferred.
Knowledge of the mechanics and maintenance of automotive equipment.
Ability to perform arduous manual labor, often under adverse weather conditions.
Class B driver's license required; CDL within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

Operate a variety of equipment including tractors, dump trucks, trash trucks, grass trimmers, and chainsaws.
Transport road materials, machinery, refuse, dirt, sand, stone, and snow.
Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on equipment.
Mow grass and trim trees, maintain athletic fields, playgrounds and other City properties.
Load and unload trucks and assist with related manual tasks.
Ensure areas are clean and safe for City facilities and events.
