Parks and Recreation Department is seeking a part-time Parks and Recreation Service Worker to join the Park Services Team.
Responsibilities include:
- Performs day-to-day duties in support of Parks & Recreation facilities, properties, and programs.
- Assists the Facilities and Recreation Supervisors and supports the rental, maintenance, and use of Division facilities, properties, and shared-use sites.
- Supports various recreational programs.
Salary will be negotiable based on qualifications and experience.

Essential Duties:
When assigned to Athletics and Parks Services Program:
- Monitors and assists in the rental and use of Parks and Recreation managed or shared parks and facilities, including Grove Street, the Aviary, athletic fields, classrooms, community centers, markets, gyms, meeting spaces, pools, shelters, stadiums, trails, and other sites.
- Provides support and supervision for recreational programs such as open gym and athletic programs.
- Assists instructors and staff in providing recreational activities.
- Supports partners and City agencies in evaluating and maintaining athletic fields, including field prep and marking.
- Handles the completion and posting of Facility Use Permits and related documents.
- Provides custodial services at parks, shared-use sites, and facilities as needed.
- Supports service delivery for events, including setup, room preparation, and other arrangements.
- Receives payments and prepares financial reports related to rentals and programs.
- Performs heavy cleaning tasks periodically, such as buffing, mopping, and pressure washing.
- Inspects facilities for safety and maintenance compliance with relevant departments.
- Manages facility support services, including setup and breakdown for departmental activities.
- Supports parking at events and rentals.
- Participates in park security patrols and collaborates with City agencies to promote safety.
- Collects and organizes forms and paperwork as needed.
- Acts as a public contact during programs and activities.
- Performs additional duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintains regular and punctual attendance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Valid Virginia Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- CPR/First-Aid Certification required within 6 months of hire.
