Job summary

Town of Leesburg, Virginia, is seeking a Director of Parks and Recreation to lead planning, operations, and development of parks, facilities, and programs. The role directs staff and oversees recreation operations and events in a dynamic community.

The ideal candidate has a master’s degree in a relevant field, a CPA/CPRE? (listed CPRP/CPRE) and a strong focus on customer service, innovation, and staff development. Fluency in English/Spanish is preferred; the town offers robust benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation Administration, Public or Business Administration, or other relevant field of study.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible work involving facility management and administration, and thorough experience in the administration of a diversified parks and recreation program.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Direct the administration, operation, maintenance, and development of the parks system, recreation facilities, programs and events.
• Plan, organize, coordinate, assign and evaluate staff performance in Parks and Recreation.

What You'll Be Doing

This is advanced professional and administrative work in planning, organizing, coordinating and directing the administration, operation, maintenance, and development of the parks system, recreation facilities, recreational programs, and special events for the Town of Leesburg. Work involves responsibility for planning, organizing, coordinating, assigning, and evaluating the work of subordinate staff overseeing operations, maintenance, and administration of the Parks and Recreation Department.
