Job summary

Albemarle County in Charlottesville, Virginia seeks a Middle School Coach in the Department of Parks & Recreation to coach and supervise basketball, cross country, flag football, soccer, track, or volleyball at the middle school level. Responsibilities include teaching skills, leading drills, scrimmages, and games with emphasis on safety and sportsmanship.

Qualifications

Gives instruction on the particular sport that is being offered, including teaching skills, running drills, scrimmages, and games.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Required knowledge, skills, and abilities to organize, promote, lead, supervise and teach recreational sports to middle school students; ability to secure cooperation and communication with students and adults; dependability, initiative, and resourcefulness.

Physical Conditions

Work involves frequent walking and standing, some lifting and carrying of objects of moderate weight (12-20 lbs.), and daily participation in leading practices, and games for middle school students. Requires constant supervision of students and contact with parents.
