The role requires an associate's degree in criminal justice or related field, plus POST-certified coursework and a California driver’s license with a clean record. POST PC 832 certification is required before probation.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination demonstrating the ability to effectively and successfully perform the duties of the position is considered qualifying. A typical combination is as follows:
Education: Associate's degree in criminal justice, criminology or related field. Requires the ability to take POST-certified technical courses in traffic collision investigations.
Experience: Two years of experience in a law enforcement agency with one year of strong public contact work experience is required. Any direct experience, training or coursework related to the field of parking enforcement and traffic accident investigation is highly desirable.License/Certificate
Requirements: Due to the performance of field duties which requires the operation of a City vehicle, a valid California Drivers license and an acceptable driving record are required. A POST PC 832 Certificate will be required prior to the passing of the probationary period. A POST Basic Academy certificate will satisfy the PC 832 requirement.
