Job summary

The Reading Parking Authority is hiring Parking Enforcement Officers to support safe, accessible parking across the City of Reading. You will patrol on foot or by vehicle, enforce regulations, and interact with residents and visitors.

This role requires independence in all weather conditions, strong customer service, and the ability to work evenings on second shift (3:30 PM–12:00 AM) with two rotation schedules.

The Reading Parking Authority is seeking motivated, dependable individuals to join our team as Parking Enforcement Officers (PEOs). Shift and Hours: 2nd shift; 3:30 PM - 12:00 AM

Schedule: Two rotations; Tues- Saturday (Mon/Sun off) and Sun-Thurs (Fri/Sat off)

Flexibility is highly preferred. We cannot guarantee we will be able to meet your preferred shift preference initially.

What You'll Do

As a Parking Enforcement Officer, you'll play a vital role in supporting safe, accessible, and efficient parking throughout the City of Reading. Your responsibilities will include:

• Patrolling city streets, parking lots, and parking facilities on foot or by vehicle


• Enforcing parking regulations and issuing parking violations accurately and professionally.


• Providing exceptional customer service and assisting residents and visitors with parking-related questions.


• Reviewing and processing parking appeals according to established procedures.


• Maintaining daily activity logs and collecting parking-related data.


• Reporting safety hazards and adverse conditions observed during patrols.


• Appearing at hearings or court proceedings when required

Requirements

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.


• Bilingual: Spanish skills are strongly preferred.


• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.


• Sound judgment and problem-solving abilities.


• Ability to remain professional under pressure.


• Strong organizational and time-management skills. Requirements


• Valid driver's license.


• Ability to pass a criminal background check, physical examination, and substance abuse screening.


• Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.


• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and perform physical job duties.
