Job Title: Park Services – Grounds Keeper
Location: Unicoi State Park & Lodge
Department: Maintenance & Landscaping
Reports To: Park Manager
Position Summary
Under the direct supervision of the Park Manager, the Groundskeeper is responsible for maintaining the overall appearance, cleanliness, and safety of the park grounds. This role focuses on landscaping, grounds care, and basic outdoor maintenance tasks to help ensure that Unicoi State Park & Lodge offers an exceptional experience to guests and visitors year-round.

Qualifications

Key Responsibilities
- Respond to guest and staff concerns related to park conditions or maintenance issues.
- Maintain, clean, and store landscaping equipment and tools properly after use.
- Safely operate vehicles and landscaping equipment, including mowers, trimmers, and utility vehicles.
- Conduct regular inspections and perform preventative maintenance as assigned.
- Follow all safety and security procedures to ensure a hazard-free work environment.
- Prune and care for trees, shrubs, and other plant life according to established guidelines.
- Perform grounds care duties including mowing, edging, raking, and trash removal.
- Apply fertilizers, seed lawns, plant shrubs, and prepare soil and terrain as needed.
- Assist with spraying vegetation, installing drainage systems, and making general repairs.
- Clean and maintain park facilities including restrooms and public use areas.

Education and Experience
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- 3–6 months of experience in groundskeeping, landscaping, or a similar field preferred.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
