Job summary

Bainbridge Island Metro Park & Recreation District is seeking a seasoned leader to head the Park Services Division. This role directs park operations, facility development, and financial planning, while maintaining strong community relations and safety standards.

The ideal candidate brings extensive senior management experience in parks and recreation, plus a Bachelor's degree and a track record of strategic program delivery.

Qualifications

• Plan, organize, direct, lead, and troubleshoot Division services and safety of a multi-department organization.
• Thorough knowledge of parks and recreation organization and development; project management experience.
• Ability to articulate visions and management philosophies; forward thinking and problem solving.
• Lead teams, coordinate with departments, and engage with the public to improve District services.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate divisional goals and programs for park services operations.
• Coordinate and provide leadership for long range division planning.
• Direct scheduling and supervision of crews, volunteers, and contractors.
• Oversee professional services relations with architects, landscape designers, safety consultants, and engineers.
• Direct training and orientation of staff; ensure Division compliance with procedures.
• Direct and monitor development and construction of District parks and facilities.
• Manage construction of new parks and equipment with other District divisions.
• Prepare division budgets and advise Executive Director on budget status; assist fundraising and grants.
• Attend Board meetings; serve as resource to executives and managers.
• Maintain knowledge of personnel policies and procedures; participate in risk management.
