Job summary

City of Miami Beach is seeking park rangers to patrol park facilities and grounds, inform patrons about park rules, and enforce ordinances. Incumbents will patrol on foot or by vehicle, maintain a positive presence, and deter rule violations while ensuring safety for park patrons and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver's license required.
• Three years of full-time verifiable experience dealing with the public in code enforcement, security, former law enforcement, military, or regulatory enforcement.
• Must obtain Level 1 certification from FACE within 12 months of appointment.
• Must obtain/maintain CPR or First Aid certification within 12 months of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Patrols assigned City parks and facilities on foot, bicycle, golf cart, ATV or vehicle to promote safety and security.
• Provide a visible presence to ensure proper park usage and voluntary compliance with rules.
• Exercise independent judgment in handling nuisances, conflicts, and public interactions; seek law enforcement assistance when needed.
• Investigate hazards, safety problems, and violations and issue warnings or citations as appropriate.
• Escort individuals and provide security at special events such as marathons, parades, and concerts.
• Disseminate information about rules, safety hazards, and park events to the public.
• Interact with the public, greet park visitors, and respond to inquiries and complaints.
