Job description

If you have a passion for the great outdoors and want to contribute to the enjoyment of visitors at Codorus State Park, we have an exciting opportunity waiting for you! We are currently seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and spirited individual to take on the role of Park Resource Ranger with the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. In this position, you will interact with a diverse array of park guests, utilizing your professionalism to foster a safe and enriching atmosphere for all who visit.


In this position, you will engage in a seasonal role that does not involve law enforcement, with an emphasis on public engagement, service, and safety. Your duties will encompass providing visitors with detailed information regarding the various programs, resources, facilities, and activities available at Codorus State Park. Furthermore, you will be responsible for ensuring that visitors comply with park regulations and the rules that govern the use of Bureau of State Park lands, while also sharing insights about the park's history and the environmental characteristics of both the park and its surrounding areas.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:
  • Seasonal Full-time employment without benefits. The season runs from March through November.
  • Shift hours and days vary due to operational need, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Work Schedule: Friday - Tuesday (OFF Wednesday and Thursday)
  • Weekends, holidays and all shifts as needed at 37.5 hours per week.

QUALIFICATIONS
Special Requirements:
  • This position requires possession of a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
  • All employees must obtain valid certification in standard first aid and adult, child, and infant CPR approved by the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or equivalent within 60 days of employment.

  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
    • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
  • In accordance with Act 153 of 2014 this position is required to complete Child Abuse, Criminal and Federal Criminal History Checks around the time of hire and thereafter every 5 years.
