Job summary

The State of Michigan's Park and Recreation Division seeks an assistant supervisor for a complex park and recreation area, assisting the Park and Recreation Supervisor 12 with daily operations and staff oversight while ensuring budget compliance.

This role requires completion of Commissioned training (Parks & Recreation Academy and Ranger Operations Academy) with overnight stays; a valid Michigan driver’s license is required to operate state vehicles.

Qualifications

• Educational level typically acquired through completion of high school.
• Four years of park and recreation experience, including one year equivalent to a Park and Recreation Ranger 9 or two years equivalent to a Park and Recreation Ranger E8.
• Possession of a valid Michigan driver's license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in directing daily program operations and day-to-day objectives.
• Monitor, evaluate, and address staff performance.
• Ensure compliance with administrative policies and expenditures within the budget.
• Coordinate maintenance and/or construction of facilities and enforce safety.
• Build relationships with divisions and external stakeholders.
