The California Park & Rec Society is looking for a Park Ranger Trainee to learn park operations and promote visitor safety. As a trainee, you will interact with park visitors, conduct inspections, administer first aid, and eventually advance to the role of Park Ranger after program completion.
Salary: $64,554.62 - $78,475.71 Annually
Description:
As a Park Ranger Trainee, you will learn park rules and use verbal engagement to promote safety, education, and positive visitor interactions in support of park visitors. This position involves interacting with visitors, collecting visitor experience data, learning patrol routes, inspecting park areas for cleanliness and safety, cleaning facilities, and correcting hazardous conditions, which may include performing light maintenance. Additionally, trainees will learn dispatch communication protocols, administer medical care, and update and maintain records.
The Park Ranger Trainee position is the first step toward becoming a full-fledged Park Ranger with Sonoma County Regional Parks. Upon successful completion of the program, trainees are promoted to Park Ranger. Park Rangers play a vital role in delivering a positive visitor experience through providing first aid, educating visitors, and enforcing park rules.
Our Park Rangers are Public Officers and certified Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs). They combine emergency medical response with proactive public service, ensuring parks are safe, clean, and welcoming.
