Qualifications

  • One year of full-time experience in program administration and education programming; park ranger experience preferred.
  • Associate's Degree in Environmental Science/Studies, Environmental Education, Criminal Science, Parks & Recreation Administration, or related field; total qualifying requirement may be met by experience plus education.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and participates in comprehensive Park Ranger programs across City parks, trails, and facilities, ensuring compliance with laws, codes, and policies.
  • Manages part-time park rangers and staff; oversees hiring, training, and payroll/attendance records; applies disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Develops engaging educational programming for the public, including community groups and schools; meets monthly programming requirements.
  • Liaises with community groups and other agencies; develops marketing strategies for department programs and services; coordinates inter-departmental collaborations.
  • Responds to emergencies, conducts patrols by foot/bike/vehicle, documents activities, and issues citations per park ordinances.
