City of Pittsburgh is seeking a part-time Park Ranger to provide comprehensive coordination and operations of the Park Ranger Program across City parks, trails, and recreation facilities. You will handle visitor management, safety, and program development to serve residents and visitors.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and participates in the Park Ranger program across City parks, trails, and facilities; ensures adherence to laws, codes, policies, and procedures.
  • Attends department and City meetings; researches Park Ranger development and department goals and objectives.
  • Acts as liaison with community groups and other agencies; develops public relations and marketing strategies for the department's programs and services; coordinates with City Departments for integrated programming.
  • Mee­ts with civic groups to receive input and may present programs related to Park Ranger operations to various groups.
  • Assists in planning, execution, and oversight of special events sponsored or co-sponsored by the Department of Parks and Recreation and partners.
  • Drives patrol vehicles and operates telecommunication devices.
  • Patrols assigned areas by foot, bike, RTVs, and vehicles to promote safety and security for visitors.
  • Documents daily patrol activities and completes forms and reports related to parks operations and incidents.
  • Manages area of responsibility in accordance with laws, regulations and policy.
  • Investigates and resolves complaints and concerns.
  • Responds to emergency situations including first aid and medical emergencies; coordinates responses.
  • Issues citations per park ordinances.
  • Performs other related tasks as assigned.

  • Drives various types of patrol vehicles and operates telecommunication devices.
  • Patrols assigned areas by foot, bike, RTVs, and/or vehicle to engage park visitors/users in order to promote the safety and security of the facility and its visitors.
  • Documents daily patrol activities and completes various forms and reports relating to parks operations and incidents.
  • Manages area of responsibility in strict accordance with applicable laws, regulations and established policy.
  • Investigates and resolves complaints and concerns.
  • Responds and/or assists in coordination of responses to emergency situations including first aid, medical emergencies, motor vehicle accidents/breakdowns, etc.
  • Issues citations in accordance with park ordinances.
  • Performs such other related tasks and duties that are assigned or required.
