Job summary

The State of Oklahoma's Department of Tourism and Recreation seeks a Park Ranger for Grand Lake State Park. This full-time position patrols park grounds, enforces laws and protects visitors and staff to assure safety and welfare within the assigned area.

Minimum qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, 21+ years old, CLEET certification (or out-of-state equivalent), and a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Possess Peace Officer CLEET certification or out of state equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid Oklahoma Driver’s License.
  • Be in sound physical and psychological condition as evidenced through the Oklahoma Tourism and Recreation Department’s screening process.
  • Pass a pre-employment drug test and polygraph.
  • Pass Oklahoma Law Enforcement Retirement System physical.
  • Pass a rigid character and background investigation.

Responsibilities

  • Patrols park areas to provide security for property, visitors and staff.
  • Enforce laws, rules and regulations, including traffic, and assist visitors.
  • Conduct investigations, issue warnings and written citations, make arrests, and secure property or contraband.
  • Represent the agency in court during legal proceedings and provide testimony when required.
  • Provide security and protection to staff, state property, and natural resources.
  • Provide first aid to injured persons when necessary.
