Job summary

National Park Service at Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park in Church Creek, Maryland, seeks a Park Ranger (Interpretation) to develop and present a wide variety of interpretive programs, from walks to talks and tours. You may be required to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime, and travel overnight up to 1-3 nights per month.

Summary

You will serve as a Park Ranger (Interpretation) with the National Park Service. The position is located at the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad National Historical Park in Church Creek, Maryland. You may be required to work, evenings, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime. You may be required to travel overnight away from home up to 1-3 nights per month. You must obtain a government charge card for travel purposes.


Major Duties

DOI Wide - This is a Merit Promotion announcement for career and career conditional Department of Interior employees, Career Transition eligibles(CTAP), Current or former time-limited employees eligible under Land Management Workforce Flexibility Act (LMWFA) and those who are eligible under the hiring paths listed above. Refer to Required Documents section for more information. As a Park Ranger (Interpretation), you will perform the following duties: Develop and present a wide variety of formal and informal interpretive programs (e.g., walks, talks, tours, presentations, etc.). Plan and develop interpretive materials (e.g., signs, waysides, publications, exhibits, etc.). Develop content for social media and park website. Coordinate and direct interpretive operations. Compile evaluation reports. Train and mentor interpretive programs conducted by fellow interpreters. Assist in the development of offsite programs and projects. Conduct day to day operations with partner organizations and groups. Ensure compliance with existing safety polices and procedures. Duties will be developmental in nature when filled below the full performance level.
