Job summary

The Piedmont’s Kings Mountain State Park, operated by the South Carolina Department of Parks, Recreation & Tourism, seeks a Park Ranger to assist with daily park operations and maintenance. The role supports security, public use management, and visitor information services.

The position requires an associate degree in Park Management or related field with 1 year of ranger experience or equivalent; residency in park housing is required; strong communication and safety focus is essential.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in Park Management or related field with 1 year of park ranger experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Assist with park operation and maintenance under supervision; assume Park Manager responsibilities in absence of higher-level staff.
• Collect and account for revenue and produce required reports.
• Instruct, supervise and perform routine and preventative maintenance on grounds, buildings and equipment to meet standards.
• Manage assigned operations including public use areas, retail operations and facilities.
• Disseminate information to visitors in programs or general interactions.
• Promote teamwork within the park and with agency stakeholders; participate on agency teams.
• Resident in designated park housing to support security, safety and emergency response.
• Instruct and supervise monthly safety inspections; maintain a safe environment for visitors and staff.
