Job summary

Walker River State Recreation Area is seeking a Commissioned Park Ranger to support the Park Supervisor across multiple units, including Flying M Ranch. You’ll mentor seasonal staff, oversee operations, and manage resources, with residency required at the duty location.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in park management, outdoor recreation management, ecology, forestry, biology or related field and 1 year of park ranger experience.
• Or 1 year of experience as Park Ranger I (Commissioned) in Nevada State service.
• Or an equivalent combination of education and experience as described.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and participate in day-to-day park operation and maintenance projects; supervise seasonal personnel and manage facilities.
• Record visitor use and fees; prepare activity reports and handle inquiries; operate park weather station and safety devices.
• Enforce laws and park policies; investigate incidents, make arrests, respond to emergencies, and coordinate with other agencies.
• Develop and implement resource preservation and rehabilitation projects.
• Plan and conduct interpretive activities and tours to educate visitors about park resources.
