Arizona State Parks and Trails protects and preserves 30 State Parks and Natural Areas. Posting Details:

Salary: $17.50 - $19.00 / per hour
Grade: 16

Job Summary: Under general supervision, performs a variety of tasks and is responsible for recommending improvement and repair projects, including planning and maintaining park facilities and grounds in a timely manner.

Job Duties:

  • Maintenance: Maintains, inspects, repairs all park buildings for problems or hazards; performs carpentry, electrical, plumbing, welding, vehicle, and equipment repairs.
  • Janitorial: Maintains restrooms, disinfects toilets, sinks, water fountains, showers, and restocks supplies. Must pass D.O.C. training to work with inmate crews.
  • Outdoor & Trail: Maintains campgrounds, picnic areas, trails, including litter removal, trail maintenance, and debris hauling. Heavy lifting required.
  • Public & Staff Safety: Promotes visitor safety, enforces park rules, uses two-way radios, coordinates with officials, and completes incident reports.
  • Cash Handling: Performs cashier duties at contact station/gift shop, collects, and accounts for fees.

Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

  • Knowledge: Maintenance techniques, park rules, law enforcement practices, office procedures.
  • Skills: Public relations, maintenance practices, driving, basic curatorial techniques.
  • Ability: Research natural/historical info, perform math, first aid, communicate effectively, build relationships.

Selective Preferences: Two years of experience as a Park Ranger Specialist or three years in customer service, library, or museum work; or a relevant degree. Equivalent training and experience may be substituted.

Pre-Employment Requirements: Valid Arizona driver’s license, possible certifications (EMT, Electrician, Wastewater), successful completion of E-Verify. Driving is essential.
