Job summary

Johnson County Park & Recreation District is seeking a Park Police Officer I to patrol JCPRD properties, protect visitors, and enforce laws and park codes. The role is entry level and requires completing training, with variable shifts and a 40-hour week.

The officer will also present educational programs on cultural and environmental topics and must pass background checks, a polygraph, and a regional training program during the trial period.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• No felony convictions or domestic violence convictions.
• Able to pass background investigation and polygraph examination.
• Complete Regional Police Academy and Field Training Program during performance trial period.
• Good moral character and ability to pass medical evaluation.

Responsibilities

• Perform uniformed patrol of JCPRD properties.
• Protect and assist park visitors; safeguard facilities and park resources.
• Enforce Kansas laws and JCPRD Park Codes; detect crimes and arrest offenders.
• Present interpretive and other educational programs on cultural and environmental topics.
