Job summary

New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation is seeking a Park and Recreation Aide to support grounds upkeep, facility maintenance, and visitor services at Franklin D. Roosevelt Four Freedoms State Park. The role includes greeting visitors, providing directions, and ensuring a clean, safe park environment.

Responsibilities cover maintenance, equipment operation, and supporting public programming and events across the NYC region, with flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform medium to heavy physical labor; must be able to lift at least 30 pounds.
• Experience with customer service, maintenance, or horticulture is preferred.
• Interest in history and architecture is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Performs general park and facility maintenance, customer service, and program support.
• Staff entrance booth, greet park patrons, track visitation and assist with directions.
• Communicate park rules, hours, and areas of interest; compile incident reports when applicable.
• Maintain park and facilities to ensure a clean and safe environment; clean, sanitize, and remove trash.
