Job summary

State of South Dakota's Department of Game, Fish & Parks in Yankton, SD is seeking a Park Naturalist Intern for the Summer session (May–August). The intern will coordinate, create, and present environmental education programs for school groups and the public, and assist with park events and media releases.

Applicants must be current part-time or full-time students with at least 6 credit hours, and have completed one year of their program by the internship start.

Qualifications

• Applicant must be enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time they apply.
• By the start of the internship, the student should have completed one year (nine months) of their chosen program.
• Preference may be given to junior/senior, South Dakota residents, and students of South Dakota institutions.
• Must enjoy spending time outdoors and enthusiasm is a must!
• The applicant should have the ability to work with all age groups from children to adults.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate, create and present environmental education programs for school groups and the general public.
• Develop park media releases: posters and public service announcements; assist with coordination of special events.
• Greet and assist park visitors.
