Job summary

The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Conservation and Natural Resources, seeks a Park Manager Trainee to gain hands-on experience across statewide park programs, guiding operations, and long-term planning. You will learn from seasoned managers while preparing for leadership roles within Pennsylvania's state parks.

This role requires full-time work with travel across the Commonwealth for training and assignments; telework is not offered.

Qualifications

• Four years of paraprofessional or technical experience providing administrative, maintenance, visitor, safety, or environmental education services in a public park or recreation area.
• Two years of paraprofessional or technical experience with an associate degree as above; or a bachelor’s degree in related field.
• An equivalent combination of experience and training is acceptable.

Responsibilities

• Assist with resource planning, treatments, and management strategies.
• Help document management decisions, processes, and park operating standards.
• Support staff guidance, performance reviews, and daily activities in park operations.
• Participate in budget preparation, monitor expenditures, and review purchasing needs.
• Respond to visitor questions and coordinate with agencies and partners for events.
• Contribute to natural resource care and uphold park rules and policies.
• Support maintenance and construction projects across park grounds and facilities.
