Job summary

Commonwealth Of Pennsylvania seeks a Park Manager Trainee to gain hands-on experience in daily park operations, maintenance, and planning. Learn from experienced managers while developing skills for future advancement and leadership within Pennsylvania's state parks.

You will supervise staff, assist with budget processes, coordinate park events, and ensure compliance with park rules while supporting resource stewardship and safety across facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation, forestry, engineering, natural sciences, landscape architecture, or a closely related field; or
• Two years of paraprofessional or technical experience with associate degree in related field; or
• Four years of paraprofessional or technical experience in public park or recreation area; or
• Equivalent combination of experience and training; Applicants may qualify within three months of graduating.

Responsibilities

• Learn Park Supervision: assist with guiding staff and daily activities.
• Assist Budget Processes: participate in budget prep and monitor expenditures.
• Public Interaction: respond to visitor questions and coordinate events with partners.
• Maintain Park Resources: contribute to natural resource care and enforce rules.
• Resource Stewardship: support efforts to maintain natural resources and safety.
• Support Operational Planning: help organize schedules and park standards.
• Facility Management: assist with maintenance and repairs across park grounds.

Education

Bachelor's degree in parks and recreation, forestry, engineering, natural sciences, landscape architecture, or related field

Associate degree in parks and recreation, forestry, engineering, natural sciences, landscape architecture, or related field

Four years of paraprofessional or technical experience

Two years of paraprofessional or technical experience + Associate degree

Equivalent combination of experience and training
